IT WAS ONE DAY LONG AGO IN 1966....
Carlton Cars celebrating 50 years of trading this year open a new branch at Bickley Station on Thursday 17th February 2016.
Owner Fred Leaney 76, first started trading from his home in Rochester Way, Welling after buying a new car! Opening his first office in a portacabin at the rear of Upper Wickham Lane Welling. Carlton Cars now has over 200 staff working 24/7/365 days per year and never closing in the last 50 years, even for a lunch break, or the day England won the World Cup! These days, its very much a family business with daughters and grandson running the operation on a daily basis Carlton Cars complete 1500 journeys a day.
We would like to thank all of our loyal customers, who have been among our passengers over the last 50 years, and we hope you will continue to use us for the next 50. We've witnessed some great and some tragic events in the last 50 years, and as they say in all the X Factors and the Cooking Programmes, It's been a long journey. Millions and millions of miles we'd say!

Unbelievably enough, this year marks our 50th Anniversary as a bona fide mini cab company. We've been around long enough to know a bit about people. So, cast your mind back. What do you remember about this fabulous year for Great Britain? 1966 saw us win the World Cup at Wembley..little did we know that'd be it for 50 years! The Beatles released their 8th album 'Revolver' considered the turning point in Pop Music. Here in the UK, we were just discovering Tamla Motown, and how much we wanted to get to clubs in town like The Scotch of St. James's and the AD LIb. This became a lot easier for people to do when Carlton Cars opened it's doors in early 1966, offering a mini cab service to London and the South East...and we're still here today! Only bigger and a lot more organised.
